Our Story

We’re a family-run restaurant in the heart of Newark, and everything we do is about making people feel welcome.

Taylors was founded by father and son Steve and Rhys Taylor, both chefs with deep roots in the industry. Steve worked in Michelin-starred kitchens across the UK and beyond, and Rhys trained under him from the age of 16. The two opened the restaurant together to bring thoughtful, local fine dining to Newark,minus the formality.

Today, Taylors is proudly run by Rhys and Ellesha, our head chef and restaurant manager, soon to be husband and wife. They met here, built a life and business together, and are now shaping the future of the restaurant with real care and creativity.

From day one, the idea has been simple: serve great food, made properly, in a space that feels relaxed and real. The kind of place where you can ask questions, laugh with the staff, and stay as long as you like.

We’re a small, tight-knit team who genuinely love what we do, and we think that comes through in every dish and every service.
